I know there is an entertainment aspect here but it seems the meter has swung away from the substantive. Jay has never been one to tolerate a contrary opinion but I finally had enough when I heard a gentleman making some strong responses on the hostage/pirate discussion. Jay hung up on him (as usual) then went into a tirade about reverend Wright and Acorn. That was a “jump the shark moment” for me. But Jay considers himself to be educating/informing his audience, and even worse, his audience (judging from the preponderance of callers) thinks they're learning something and they are forming their political views based on his show. That's what scares me, and that's why I feel the need to call attention to Severin's most egregious errors.
